I have the honour to inform you that the acces-

sion of His Majesty the King was proclaimed by me in this Co-

lony on the 29th,ultimo, and as I have informed you in my tele- gram of the same date the proclamation was received with great enthusiasm by many hundreds of persons comprising all the na~

tionalities which are included in the resident population of

Hong Kong.

I attach for your information a copy of the

Casette Extraordinary which I issued immediately after the

ceremony, from which you will observe that I associated with

myself the names of representatives of every section of the

community.
